Description: Vintage Genco Straight RazorwithRare Marble-Patterned Handle Genco branded products were produced by the Geneva Cutlery Company, which was initially incorporated in 1900 in Geneva, NY. as the Geneva Shear Company, then reorganized (as its shears were unpopular) in 1902 as Geneva Cutlery. William and Walter Althoff were brought in to manage the company and were reputed to be the first to introduce the German method of manufacturing in America. Knives and razors soon replaced shears as the primary products, and Geneva became the largest straight razor producer in the nation. In 1934, Ekco Products of Chicago purchased the company, renamed it Geneva Forge, and manufacturing shifted from razors to cutlery and kitchenware when W. R. Case & Sons purchased the razor division from Geneva, retaining the Geneva name but moving production and some key employees to Bradford, PA. It operated there until it was shut down in the mid-1960s. As the photos show, this very attractive vintage straight razor is in excellent condition
