Description: In French, pivert means woodpecker or bird with strong claws and stiff tail for climbing, and a hard-chisel-like bill for boring into wood for insects. This vintage botanical woodpecker perched on a wood branch is depicted in great detail and colors against a deep yellow gold background. The bird is done in shades of brown, black, orange and tan, contrasting beautifully against the yellow backdrop. The phrase “Privert rose’” is the only clue to its French origin. It’s printed on heavy paper card stock and appears to have been a book plate, there is a line of partial letters showing at the bottom of the sheet. Artist unknown, a beautiful bird litho ready for framing. In very good condition.
