Description: Vintage Handcrafted Ornate Wooden Crucifix Cross of San Damiano Made In ItalyThis handcrafted crucifix was created in Italy and is a variation of the Cross of San Damiano. The cross is closely associated with the Franciscan order and St Francis of Assisi in the Catholic church. This cross features a print of Jesus on the cross with a saint on each side of him. Above Jesus is a Latin plaque that loosely translates to "This Nazarene king of the innocents". The wood background is a deep red with gold gilt. There is the original hanging hardware attached which is a textured metal loop.Measures ~ 6 1/2" L x 4 3/4 W" x 3/4" H top diameter. It is in great vintage condition with normal, age-related wear.
