Description: I found this bizarre and intriguing painting at an estate sale in an old house in Gloucester, Massachusetts. It measures 15 1/2" x 24", including the frame, which is original to the painting. It depicts a portrait of a violinist looking out to sea. Probably done in the time frame of the 1930s- 1960s. Great folk art naive style. In great shape; there are the usual minor marks and on the left edge it appears a small scratch was painted in. This was not done by me, it was found this way. Oil on masonite board. Signed lower left what appears to be " H.G. Sawyer" or "A.G. Sawyer" or "R.G. Sawyer".
