Vintage Floral Fabric Margaret Smith Handbag 1960s Hardly Worn

Description: I am selling part of my vintage Margaret Smith of Gardiner, Maine handbag collection. This one is used but in great condition. It has a cotton, floral fabric exterior with two loops as handles. The handles are in great shape and show little wear. The floral fabric is a navy, pink, light blue, white and green floral print and the interior is lined in a pink taffeta fabric, which comes out looking orange in the photos for this listing. The interior has a middle section that has a zip pocket to store items separately. The top closes with a snap closure. The interior pink taffeta lining is in very good shape. The exterior is in great condition, with limited signs of wear and no tears or stains. The dimensions are approximately 11" wide by 7" tall by 4 1/2" wide at its widest point. The handles have a drop of almost 5" from the top of the loop to the top of the bag. This bag is in excellent condition despite being a vintage bag from the 1960s. I have several other Margaret Smith bags and can send photos of those, if you are interested. The story of Margaret Smith is an interesting one: Margaret Smith of Gardiner, Maine started making beach bags and totes as a hobby in the 1940s, which eventually led to the establishment of the Margaret Smith Company producing bags and totes and clothing of high quality in novelty prints featuring floral patterns, birds, ferns, plaids and more. Imagine if she had had a blog! Considered the "vintage Kate Spade," before Kate Spade existed, her bags can be found on vintage websites and on Ebay. She was considered a New England preppy before it was chic to be preppy. .
