Description: Here is a bright and colorful double egg cup produced between 1953 and 1961 in the "Early Provincial" pattern for UCAGCO. On a glossy background a big Rooster and Rose decorate the top egg-holding section. On the base section there are vines and leaves. Top and base rims have a yellow band. All is hand painted in Japan under the glaze. It stands 4 1/8" tall with a rim diameter of 2 3/4" and a weight of 5 ounces. Condition is good with no chips, paint loss, or utensil marks - but there is crazing and two faint hairline fissures, see last two photos. There is no back stamp on this serving piece produced for the United China and Glass Co (UCAGO) which was based in New Orleans and NY. Ucagco created and distributed dinnerware, including Japanese ceramics during the early 1950s. Thanks for looking.
