Description: Vintage China Bone Dish Henry Alcock & Co. Floral click picture to enlarge Floral pattern bone dish. Gold colored trim on edge, trim has wear. There is some crazing. Has a manufacturer glaze bubble bust mark on the side. Manufacturers mark on reverse indicates semi-porcelain. Henry Alcock & Co. Cobridge, England. No cracks, but has two small chips and one a little larger. Measures 6 3/4” point to point. Bone dishes were considered a necessary part of a table setting for the Victorian table. The crescent-shaped dish was kept at the edge of the dinner plate so the bones removed from the fish could be stored away from the uneaten food. Some bone dishes were made in more fanciful shapes and many resemble fish.
