Around the rim is metallic gold. Back side reads BIRTHDAY GREETINGS FROM YOUR BETSY ROSS BAKERIES. Plate created by BB Co with 22 karat gold. The design on the front has black transfer outlines but all the colored sections are hand done. From a local estate, so I think Betsy Ross must have been a regional bakery- maybe giving these plates to their wholesale customers as a thanks for continued business. No chips or cracks, no crazing, a little dab of gold paint on the crimped edge. Nice way to serve a plate of Christmas cookies.
