Description: 9 3/4” yun de/lacquerware bowl. The Burmese craft of lacquerware is a centuries-old tradition passed from generation to generation. It involves a lengthy process of applying a lacquer made from the thitsi tree and the ashes of cow bone to a woven bamboo form or wood. Designs are incised into the lacquer and multiple coats are alternately added and dried. This process can take months. There are no chips to this bowl.
