Description: THANKS FOR CHECKING OUT MY AUCTION. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION AND MY POLICIES BEFORE PLACING YOUR BID.Check out my other items!Be sure to add me to your favorites list! This listing is for a vintage Bruno "Perfection" Bb tenor saxophone. This is a "stencil" horn manufactured by the Pan American division of C.G. Conn Ltd. The serial number is P8984. I think this is essentially a slightly scaled down New Wonder series I, but probably made after that model ceased production. The reason I say that is because it has the 1914 patent date usually found on Conn main line horns, rather than the 1915 date generally found on Pan Am models. This horn features a G# trill key and forked Eb mechanism. It does not have a front F button or rolled tone holes. The key touches are metal rather than mother of pearl. It has satin silver plate finish. It is stamped "T", indicating it is a standard Bb tenor (not a C melody), and "L", indicating it is a low pitch model, the desired tuning for contemporary use. This horn is being sold as is for restoration. It is not playable in its current state. It will require a full overhaul to be made playable. On the plus side, this horn is in overall very good physical condition, so it is an excellent candidate for an overhaul. Read on for details on its condition. There are a handful of minor pings/nicks, and one slightly pushed in key-guard foot, but there are no significant dents or dings. The bow guard curvature has not been distorted, and the rim of the bell has never been bent. The neck has not been pulled down. It looks like the neck tenon was resoldered. It is a solid job, but there is a little bit of excess solder that seeped out. I don't see any other resoldered joints. Most of the keys are moving freely and rebounding properly. The octave and side C keys seem to be stuck. A couple of the rollers are not turning, but the rest are. The screw for tightening the neck has a weird replacement grip part. It looks like the screw sockets of the neck receiver have been filed a bit to allow them to close further (common on old horns). The silver plate finish is heavily tarnished, but mostly intact. There is wear at the normal high contact points. The pads are completely shot. This horn comes in its original case. The case is in poor condition though. It is heavily worn, and some of the wood joints are separating. The neck and accessory compartments are loose but included. It is very musty inside. To be honest, it isn't worth salvaging, but it will provide extra protection for shipping. There is no mouthpiece, nor any other accessories included. I will however make sure it ships with an end plug. Please feel free to email me with any questions. Thanks again for looking! 09/11/24-F
