Description: You could not get a better portable sound from a portable 8 track player than this one. I hung it up and had music for hours with great fidelity and good tunes from the 8 track as in the Catskills, radio reception was hardly there. No party without music! This was in the late 70's and early 80's. All was well with this amp and 8 track until cassettes came out and music delivery once again changed. This had been the best amp and radio I had ever had in a portable unit. The belt however went bad and I put this unit in the garage and purchased more modern cassettes to replace it. I took the drive side apart and used a belt to test the 8 track. I bought an 8 track tape and with the belt it worked well. A little static in the volume and R/L controls, but the amp still showed power. The one speaker has a partially broken cone and does not amplify as the other side which sounds great (cone needs taping/covering, or re-coning). I don't know how this happened but maybe 30 years ago I may have dropped a screwdriver on the cone. The antenna has only 1 segment in it so I included a new antenna to fix this problem. The old can come out, or just push the new one into the old antenna hole and it just fits. The AM works but needs cleaning, but the FM has no sound. This is beyond my expertise so I will not try to fix it. Get these things working and you have one heck of good sounding unit, either in house, or outside portable. I was also considering plugging in an outside input source for cd's but never got around to it. The amp is king.
