This is a discontinued Bill Bagwell designed "GAMBLER" bowie knife. Made by Ontario Knife Company. It features a satin finished clip point blade with a sharpened top edge .286" blade stock and 1.245" blade depth, hidden tang construction. The handle has a brass guard/collar/studs, and a dymondwood grip. Includes the original box and black leather sheath. Bill Bagwell made his first knife at the age of 10 from an old saw. While in high school, he started forging knives in the industrial arts shop, and by the age of 15, he was forging hunting and bowie knives as a hobby. He made and forged knives while in college and became a full-time professional bladesmith in 1969. Bagwell is one of the true pioneers in the making of damascus blades in the USA. He completed his first successful Damascus blade on December 1, 1973, after about 6 months of trial and error. In early 1976, with the late Don Hastings, B.R. Hughes and Bill Moran, Bagwell became one of the founding members of the American Bladesmith Society and wrote the original charter for that organization. He also served as the society's first secretary and was on the board of directors. He passed away in 2021 and was a true legend in the knife making world.
