Description: Ash is up there with the very strongest of hardwoods and this bowl is a beautiful example of Ash Burl Wood. (Burl in the US & Burr in the UK) It has never had anything more than a duster put over it - It has not been varnished, the sheen from the wood is a natural sheen that the artist promised me would develop and be with it for life and so far he hasn't been wrong. This bowl was made for me in 2000 by John Wood, a woodturner in Plymouth England who was doing an exhibition in one of the stores next to the Mayflower steps. It is made from a single piece of burr. He initialed the bottom of the bowl and added the type of wood for me.It has sat in the center of my dining room table every day since then and I love it - I just can't keep it any longer due to my impending move. Please check photos carefully for full condition & description and feel free to reach out with questions
