Description: Vintage A.S. Aloe Company Trash Can Bin With Foot Pedal And Insert Can. Condition is Used. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. This trash can was made by A. S. Aloe company, which specialized in medical, optical and surveying equipment. They went out of business in the early 60's. Best guess is this item might have been for a hospital? No guarantees on its history as I don't know it. It's made of steel or maybe a heavy aluminum. It's definitely not light weight. It has a step pedal for handless opening. Inside is a removable can insert (possibly made of galvanized steel, but again guessing on that, since I don't know for sure) plus a black top removable insert. Color is black and a muted green, reminiscent of mid century colors. There's no manufacturer date on the item, so dating it is tricky. Best guess is it's from between the 40's to the 50's, based on style, color, and material. No information about it was found, so going purely by guess work. Overall condition is good, especially for its age. There is a slight amount of rust along the base, with some small knicks and dings, but no major flaws. It has the appearance of having been used, but if it was, it's been well taken care of. Inside condition is also good. Dusty from age, but seems to have been kept cleaned. There is slight rust at the bottom of the insert can at the seam, on the inside of the can, however it's not rusted through the can, so is probably just surface. See pictures for visuals. Pedal works fine. The pedal is made from steel as well (or some heavy metal, I'm not sure). The lid opens easily with a light step on the pedal. Lid can also be opened by hand. The bin is tall-ish, at 25 inches. The base is about 10" each side, and the bin part is 9 inches each side. The insert can has a diameter of 8 1/2 inches and is 19 inches tall. The insert can has handles on the side so can be taken out of the bin. The bin will work with and without out the can inside. This vintage piece is in good condition and harkens from an era when things were built to be tough and last. Great for mid century decor.
