DESCRIPTION OF ITEM THIS ITEM IS---This is one of many original Vintage ROBERT MOIR art works I have up right now, they are very good, although some might think some are a bit disturbing. these came from Elli Buk from New York a hugh collector and I believe the Robert lived/worked in the same building as Elli back in the 60's, at least that seems to be where Elli got most of his art work, he was a big science collector. anyway, THIS IS A GREAT WORK OF ART BY Robert MOIR. I have a few original pieces by Robert on Ebay right now. some of his works have a lot of info and or quotes on the back, I will show this when it occurs. WHEN this is the case his work often involves mythology, specifically Greek. THIS SPECIFIC WORK OF ART --aprox 23 x 29 inches, SIGNED, naked Nubian lady sculpts in the center, while bearded man thinks with something in his hand, above her sculpture is a picture or a thought in the background of them? going at it in very little detail, their bodies are red, dark strong lines, as the hole work is a swirl all contained but her head sticks out while the swirl captures her foot and it is hiddern. great stuff. nothing on the back. INFO ABOUT THE ARTIST An important sculptor, painter, lithographer and teacher, Robert B. Moir studied art at the Art Institute of Chicago, Columbia University, New York University and the Art Students League of New York. He first began to exhibit his art at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1940 and continued to show his sculptures and paintings there until 1948. Shortly after that date, Robert Moir moved to New York and began exhibiting at that city's major galleries, such as the Whitney Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He was also a frequent contributor to annual shows at the Sculpture Center of New York. In 1959 the Sculptor's Guild held a large one-man exhibition of his art. Today, Robert Moir's art is included in the following permanent collections; the Rittenhouse-Savoy, Philadelphia, the Honolulu Academy of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. Both the Smithsonian Archives of American Art and the United States Art Collection include lithos of his work in their permanent collections. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AS SHOWN, USE EBAYS ZOOM IN FEATURE TO GET A GREAT LOOK AT THE ITEM UP CLOSE, and email me any questions, please. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ VIEW MY OTHER ITEMS ON EBAY TERMS AND CONDITIONS Paypal users must be verified, and have a confirmed address.
