Description: Vintage steel spindle with thumb turn end. Usually a fancier brass or crystal door knob went on the other end most folks view and the thumb turn was on the other side of the door you would not normally see, ie a closet door, basement door etc. I have several of these, all in good vintage condition. Threads are still good, a bit of brass plating remains on some. Total length varies, but most are approx 3.5" total length. Just the threaded spindle part is about 2.5". Some are a bit brassier color on the thumb turn; others are silver. If you have a preference, please advise, otherwise I will ship my choice. As with all antique, old, vintage and pre-owned items, these may have some degree of visible wear, discoloration, dust, tarnish, faded finish etc, which is considered normal. Patina and finish may vary from piece to piece. While old, this item is still in remarkably good shape. It’s not like-new or perfect but displays very well; I consider it to be in very good to excellent vintage condition, consistent with age and use, with no major issues noted, BUT YOU BE THE JUDGE! MY OPINION OF THE CONDITION (IE EXCELLENT, VERY GOOD, GOOD OR FAIR) MAY BE DIFFERENT THAN YOURS, SO ASK QUESTIONS NOW, (RATHER THAN COMPLAIN LATER!) Lots of pictures included; review all of them carefully as they are a large part of the listing. I always encourage questions before buying, because.......... I AM NO EXPERT ON THESE; I DON’T CLAIM TO BE AND READILY ADMIT I DON’T KNOW EVERYTHING THERE IS TO KNOW ABOUT THEM. I CANNOT POSSIBLY BE AWARE OF OR LIST EVERY FEATURE OR DETAIL ABOUT THEM, SO ASK QUESTIONS. YOU MAY KNOW MORE ABOUT THESE THAN I DO. I MAY HAVE INADVERTENTLY MISSED AN IMPORTANT DETAIL. DON’T ASSUME ANYTHING. I WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY WITH YOUR PURCHASE; SO ASK QUESTIONS. AGAIN, RE-READ THE LISTING DETAILS, REVIEW ALL THE PICTURES AND IF YOU ARE UNSURE ABOUT ANYTHING, ANYTHING AT ALL, ASK QUESTIONS. WHILE MY GOAL IS TO MAKE YOU A HAPPY CUSTOMER, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ASSESS THE SUITABILITY OF THIS ITEM. LOOK AT ALL THE PHOTOS AND LISTING DETAILS INCLUDING MEASUREMENTS/DIMENSIONS TO ENSURE THEY FIT YOUR NEEDS BEFORE BIDDING OR PURCHASING. IF YOU NOTICE ANYTHING THAT NEEDS ATTENTION, ADVISE AND I WILL FIX IT PRIOR TO SHIPPING. Age, from research, is believed to be accurate but is not guaranteed. Actual age unknown. Please do your own due diligence if this is a concern. Mounting screws/hardware is not included. YOU WILL RECEIVE WHAT IS SHOWN IN THE PICS. These are being offered AS-IS so study all of the photos closely and make your own assessment of condition and to make sure that these items suit all of your needs. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions whatsoever. AGAIN I AM SELLING THIS LISTING AS IS; WITH NO RETURNS (UNLESS PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE AND AGREED TO BY ME). If an item has been grossly misrepresented, a refund will be considered. BUYER’S REMORSE, (IE YOU DO NOT LIKE THESE AFTER YOU RECEIVE THEM OR NO LONGER NEED THEM FOR ANY REASON IS NOT A VIABLE REASON FOR A REFUND. These oldies were originally used with a mortise lock that was “mortised” (slipped) into the edge of the door, but you don't need one; a "tube latch" will work just fine on modern doors. I can provide either tube latch or mortise lock (with proper key), for additional cost. There is nothing like QUALITY antique door hardware to showcase your decor and make your doors look special. The newer, imported stuff you see in retail stores pales in comparison. Don't waste your time and money. Antique hardware made in the USA remains the "gold standard", and has never been duplicated InvLoc: warehouse 3. 519: 289-290
