Description: VINTAGE African/Congo Bakongo Tribe Double Headed DOG Sculpture.This sculpture is called a Nkisi Nkonde which is a very primitive form of a modern Vodou Doll.Overall good condition for age. Very nice piece to any eccentric or oddities collection."Tribes would use such effigy to communicate with and seek help from the spirit world using specific chants and spells conducted by a shaman or holy man in the tribe. These hand carved 'dolls' were then filled with special herbs, stones or materials on a crevice then sealed with a piece of glass or mirror. This was mean to 'activate' or call a spirit to the item to help or aid the living.
