Description: RARE VINTAGE GREEK BYZANTINE ICON - SAINT DIMITRIOS950 SILVER & GOLD PLATE SETTING - CREATED by THEOLOGOS WORKSHP - 5" Tall x 4" WideEXCELLENT vintage condition - No dents or damage noted - Absolutely beautiful.Overlay setting is marked "950 Silver" - (finer purity than 925 sterling silver) - 950 silver purity is also noted on the certificate on the back along with the red wax seal to indicate this is an original work of art from the THEOLOGOS WORKSHOP.Certificate Reads : "Our workshop THEOLOGOS creates byzantine style icons from silver 950 and painting. All subjects have been influenced artistically by museum themes, sources of the Christian church made from the 14th century till today. The drawing is hand-painted and each certificate bears the signature of the artist. Limited Edition 159/92 The Greek banner at the top of the icon "Άγιος Δημήτριος" translates to "SAINT DIMITRIOU" - The Greek banner at the bottom is the name of the artist. The foreground, border & parts of his armor are gold plated - verified gold plating on the certificate.
