Description: Offered for your consideration is one (1) 8” poly cone woofer, manufactured c.1998. I found this nicely-built mid/bass driver in a pair of vintage U.S.-made speakers as a replacement for an original that was evidently blown or damaged. No maker's name appears on this woofer. Please take a look at my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if this capable 8” woofer should be yours. This 8” woofer is in clean, excellent condition. The poly cone and voice coil dustcap are both flawless, as pictured. Plus, the black-enameled steel basket has no dents, scratches, or finish loss, and the spongy flange gasket is also perfect. Also, the suspension is foam, but it’s the modern, treated polyether type which is effectively permanent, instead of the old polyurethane that wasn’t. And, the dual +/- terminals measure the standard .205”, are marked for polarity, and have never been soldered on the spades. Overall, this 8” mid/bass looks practically new! Most importantly, it’s been fully tested and sounds very strong and clear with fast, detailed mid frequencies and solid low end. With its large magnet structure, it could even serve well in a small box subwoofer project! Plus, I tested its DC resistance at 7.3Ω, consistent with an 8 ohm nominal driver rating. Lastly, the basket measures 8⅟16” in diameter, it stands 3 9/16” tall, and the mount holes are spaced 5½” adjacent / 7⅞” on the diagonal apart, c-t-c. So, as pictured and described, this 8” replacement woofer is offered at a reasonable price.
