Description: On the block: One (1) vintage 50s What's Cookin' Humorous Novelty Slang pinback button. It measures approx 3.5 inches from side to side and features a white background with orange/red lettering. Multi shell pressed construction with metal back and spring pin. No date or makers marks. In very good used condition with minimal marks commensurate of a 55+ year old button. No large scratches, creases, image loss or dents. Great color and printing. Slight darkening from handling/age on the back. See pics. Now this one is unmarked but has all the earmarks of be an N. G. SLATER piece. The construction is identical to another pin we have up right now which is also a novelty item. That one is marked 1958 and Slater. Also, the phrase is very 50's - loosely based on Hank Snow's "Hey, Good Lookin" (which came out in 1951) the line "What's Cookin'?" (meaning : what's going on ?) was used a lot in the early 50's slang. Photos are of the actual item that you will receive. Our items are carefully inspected and come from a smoke-free environment.
