It looks like the buttons are real leather or perhaps molded wood, but they are not plastic. In good vintage condition: I do not see any stains, tears, or mends, inside or out. Moth hole in one pocket and another on back shoulder, as shown in photos. No off odors. The pocket linings are whole and this has all its buttons.
