Description: A beautifully framed large Thai Temple rubbing done in green of two dancing ladies or mythical Apsaras. In Hinduism, Apsaras are beautiful supernatural female beings who are superb in the art of dancing. They dance to music in palaces to entertain and are often compared to angels.In Thailand when devotees would make a pilmigridge to its famous temples they would rub charcoal over the carvings in the temple to keep a souvineer of thier symbolic journey. Now in an effort to perserve historical sites the rubbings are banned in the Temples. The rubbing is under glass in the frame and has a matching green matting inside of a gold frame.The frame measures 23 1/2" wide and 24" tall and includes hardware on the backside for hanging. The frame does have some light scratching from use. The etching is on paper that has light tanning from age.
