Vintage 1997 Evening Enchantment Barbie Spec. Ed. Red Flame Dress #19783 NRFB

Description: From the “Evening Elegance” series, Evening Enchantment Barbie “is a sophisticated beauty in her glamourous gown that glitters in the starlight.” It is my experience that stars don’t really reflect enough light to make a dress glitter. In moonlight, sure, but by starlight, a stretch. No matter, this dress looks like it might have been the inspiration for Katniss Everdeen’s dress in the Hunger Games “Catching Fire” chariot ride. Flames have worked their way up the right half of the dress culminating in feathery flames that shoot off the dress toward the stars that will supposedly light up the dress. Included is a very cool accessory—a hand-held flaming feather that is reminiscent of a bouquet, but way cooler. Other accessories include simple red post earrings and matching ring and (probably red) shoes. No necklace detracts from the drama of the top of the dress. And the doll…golden blond waves to the hips with a side part, serene green eyes and luscious full red lips…oh my! Her right arm is raised toward the stary sky seen in the box’s backdrop. This doll has never emerged from her box, unless you believe the whole “Toy Story” thing and believe she gets out for a romp when no one’s in the room. The box is enchanting in its own right. Barbie stands on a balcony, the night sky behind her with its full moon, stars and summer tree foliage. No dings, no scratches, no dents, ANYWHERE! I see only minor shelf wear on the bottom. The original $39.99 price sticker is still on the top of the box.Made in China. Ages over 3. This incredible creation comes to you from a non-smoking, Barbie-obsessed home via a J.C. Penny store shelf via Mattel. And our pets know better than to mess with “those funny creatures in the fancy boxes in the off-limits room.” Please note that I do not ship outside of the continental U.S. but international buyers are welcome who will be using a U.S. shipping concern. I see that other sellers are letting this doll go for a wide range of prices. I cannot attest to the condition of those dolls. I only know that the one I am selling is quite perfect and I would rather keep her than sell her for a mere song. Her value has not diminished substantially in my eyes. If I thought I would live forever, she would be staying with me.
