Vintage 1971 Caravelle No Date All SS Midsize Watch w/Pristine Dial,Signed Crown

Given this volatility and considering that the movement has likely never been serviced a complete overhaul is long overdue and recommended.***********This vintage 1971 Caravelle has under the damaged crystal what appears to be a pristine greyish black "T-JAPAN-T" signed dial with blue accents. The lume, which emits a faint, short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully to a perfectly matching warm buttermilk hue. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with minor signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "CARAVELLE | STAINLESS STEEL CASE | ANTI-MAGNETIC | WATER RESISTANT | SHOCK RESISTANT" with "N1" stamped along the inner edge. The crystal needs to be replaced.While I normally show pictures of the movements of watches I put up for sale the case back on this one is torqued too tight for me to removed. Based on several other identical examples I've had over the years the manual wind movement is likely 17 jewels, unadjusted and stamped "IIDP." After recently winding the signed, non-screwdown crown 35 to 37 full revolutions on several occasions the movement, which fires up immediately, ran strong over an average 41 hour power reserve period. However, it vacillates between running fast, keeping time and running slow. During one power reserve period it gained approximately 5 minutes, on another two it kept accurate time and by the end of the most recent observation period it lost about 2 minutes. The crown winds with an appropriate amount of tension. Given the movement's volatility in keeping time and considering that it likely has never been serviced a complete overhaul is long overdue and recommended. This watch measures approximately 33 mm excluding the crown, approximately 34.5 mm including the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the mid-case, is approximately 5 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 8 mm. The lug to lug distance measures approximately 39 mm. A complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.
