Vintage 1970's Shure PE585 / 585SA Dynamic cardioid microphone w accessories # 7

Description: Hello and welcome to the House of Chrome. You are looking at a classic 1970's era Shure Brothers PE-585 (Same as the Shure 585SA model) dynamic cardioid microphone with excellent sound quality and set at high impedance. The microphone comes with a short vintage cable, mic pouch and mic clip shown. Pic # 2 is from a Shure catalog I have showing all of the mics performance characteristics but not included in this sale. This was a bread butter mic for Shure Brothers. They sold possibly tens of thousands of these during the 1960's, 70's and 80's as they were rugged, reliable, practical and provided a very reliable, quality, clean sound. A mic that could be used for general broadcasting, singing and was even used as a harp mic by many musicians due to the high impedance setting. A real workhorse with excellent uni-directional characteristics. The mic is actually more of a mid range tone and if you have a deeper voice like mine then it actually sounds really nice as it balances it out. These older mics are usually in rough condition after all these years so I have to put a lot of work into getting these up to par for resale. This one was pretty decent to start with however and cleaned up very nice. About as clean an example as you could possibly ask for. The satin chrome finish shows virtually no wear as seen in the pics provided. The satin chrome has a gorgeous luster even after years of handling. The Shure logo that encircles the globe looks very nice with extremely lite wear and completely legible. The chrome globe is free of any tarnish, odors or dents. I added a new foam liner / pop filter to the inside of the globe as the old one had completely fell apart and this helps greatly with the sound characteristics. This PE-585 comes with a short 10 foot vintage Amphenol cable that's in great usable condition and comes with a Switchcraft male 1/4 inch end connector. The cable is soft and pliable. Free of any cracks or dry rot. The mic clip is an aftermarket model type that looks exactly like a Shure A-25 model. The clip works excellent for this mic giving the user a wide degree of tilt up and down and hold the mic tightly. The clip shows no wear and works perfectly. It will screw onto any mic stand. There is a nice black vinyl Shure mic pouch as well that is in perfect condition and it's a great place to store the mic and cable while not in actual use. Protect the mic and the zipper on top works perfectly. A great package deal all the way around. MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY. Overall I would rate this mic physically a 9 on a scale of 1 - 10 in the cosmetic department and she's got plenty of life left in her. Made right here in America and built to last!
