Description: This unit is a great candidate of repair or restoration for the right buyer. The typewriter does function but needs the attention and expertise of a skilled collector or technician. All funtions appear to be working. However, the Power Return feature seems slow to me. I opened and cleaned the unit and did some limited lubrication. I found that the OEM belt had failed. Currently there is a rubber band on the motor and drive that I used to verify overall operation of the unit. I'm sure this typewriter will need a new ribbon and further adjustment by someone more experienced to be back to perfect condition. Comes with plastic hard case. This vintage 1970's Sears Scholar electric typewriter is a collectible piece that will bring you back to the good old days. Its steel material and portable feature make it a great addition to any collection. The typewriter is in working condition and includes all of its original features but needs further work to make it a unique piece for a typewriter enthusiast.
