Description: Featured is "The Ghost Town", 4 of 4 western lithograph prints in Clyde Forsythe's "Gold Strike" series. Clyde Forsythe (1885-1962) was an American artist and illustrator known for his illustrations and desert paintings. Beginning in 1938 Forsythe created 4 paintings depicting "the development of a boom town, from the first hectic rush, through the tent city period, to the opulent era of false fronts and crowded dance halls...". These 1960s era 4-Color Lithograph prints were produced by Desert Printers, Inc. of Palm Desert, California. "The Ghost Town" is approximately 16.5" x 20.25" in overall size and 13.5" x 17.25" in image size. It is in very good condition, with some light toning on the edges of the border. On the back of the print is a fascinating description in Forsythe's own words of how he came to paint "The Ghost Town". Chuck Olson CollectionChuck Olson spent over 40 years collecting and traveling the United States in search of unique vintage prints. He was especially interested in prints that were printed for use on calendars in the "Age of the Calendar" from 1900-1960. Chuck amassed a collection of well over 10,000 framed and unframed prints before his death. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about the item.
