Description: Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a popular and very unique Turner S22D dynamic model microphone. This model was manufactured and sold during the 1940's to the late 1950's and has a classic deco vibe with a "bullet" type appearance which was typical of many mics from that period and earlier before losing favor. The S22D was an all metal design with a satin chrome finish and on / off switch. It had some size and weight to it. It was an entry level model that was both affordable and rugged with good overall sound. This mic comes with the period Atlas DS-5 model desk stand in which to display. It should be noted right away that while the mic does still work it has a lower output rated at around 50% so I'm selling this as a display example only as it really can't be used as intended. You'll see in pic # 2 an old Turner advertisement showing the specs and prices on the 22D as well as a few other Turner models. The only difference between the 22D & S22D was the built in on / off switch on the S22D. The on / off switch works perfectly. The 22 series came in several different styles over the years with the only changes coming in the lower half that carried the Turner badge and the type of element used. The 22 model microphone either had the crystal element or the Dynamic element. All 22D's carried the dynamic element which normally held up better than the crystal elements over the past 70 years. This unit has the 2nd generation flat rectangular lower front and rounded rear pistol grip. The overall finish is very nice with tiny scratches and scuff marks. Zero dents, chrome loss or fractures. The front grill looks great as does the inner black cloth screen. I would give a this mic a conservative 8 on a scale of 1 - 10. A true piece of Americana and a conversation piece anywhere it sits. The threading for the cable and mic stand are perfect. No issues. Solid inside and out and the Turner badge looks very nice and completely legible. The mic comes with a period 1950's Atlas DS-5 model desk stand that really compliments the mic and makes for a very stable platform. The DS-5 comes with the 6 inch chrome riser and painted cast iron base. It has just lite wear mostly on the base in the form of scuff marks and scratches but very good overall. The stand still has the 3 rubber bottom pads and as you can see they are in great shape. Total dimensions with mic and stand are 12 inches tall X 6 inches wide. This will make a great display piece anywhere it sits and will draw plenty of attention. As with all my vintage items... I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid.
