Vintage 1940s Marx Toys Tin Litho Horse & Pressed Steel Farm Wagon

Description: Vintage 1940s Marx Toys Tin Litho Horse & Pressed Steel Farm Wagon.Two part push/pull toy, with single horse connected to front axle of wagon and separate wagon with back wheels.The horse is lithographed tin and is black with red, white and yellow accents. The horse has two small wooden wheels on lower front foot. The horse is marked with the Marx logo on the bottom left sideThe wagon (and the front axle connected to the horse) appear to be pressed steel and are painted red. The wagon has wooden wheels with tin hubs. The wagon is marked with the Marx logo stamped into the metal in the bed of the wagon. It appears that there was also a rectangular painted logo (or some other thing) in the bed of the wagon, next to the stamped logo, but the paint is worn an illegible.A steel rod connects the horse to the front axle. The rod goes through the body of the horse. There are holes in both sides of the horse, about where the stirrups of the saddle would be. I don't know what these holes would be for (the horse may have been universally made and used on a variety of toys). String reins are connected to the horse at the mouth.I have seen similar horses to this one on other toys (some with two horse teams and some with or without the wheels). But I have not been able to find an example of this wagon. It appears to be a farm style wagon (hay wagon or some such thing).Toys with horses similar to this have been dated by others from the 1930s to the 1950s. I estimate this toy to be from the 1940s (but it could be anytime from the 30s to the 50s).It is in good condition. Much of the lithograph is clear and bright. But it shows significant signs of use (someone played with this toy a lot). Please see the photos for condition. The wagon is missing the driver.
