Vintage 1940’s Harry Rosenfeld Alligator Leather Handbag

Description: A Rare Gem. 1940’s Harry Rosenfeld Original, Alligator Leather Shoulder Handbag. This magnificent bag is crafted with meticulous and fine details. Gold painted metal hardware on front. Genuine alligator skin exterior and leather interior. Pouch style with magnetic button closure and large flap overlay. Stitching is beautiful throughout this bag. Genuine alligator identifications include: pores every scale, irregular grain pattern, soft, supple, and smooth texture, gradual transitions in scale shapes. Inner lining includes multiple pockets, zipper side pocket on inner front, behind zipper pocket there is also an open side compartment. Backside of the bag’s inner lining contains two card holder style open pockets as well. This bag does sadly have damage, the single very notable flaw. The left strap has come apart from the bag at the back. This could be repaired by the right craftsman. Hardware on the front does have scratches in the paint as well, but really only noticeable when you’re looking up close. The remainder of the bag is truly immaculate for its time period. A collectors piece no doubt. I have not found any of these exact bags online anywhere. While there are similar alligator leathers in this line, the shape and style is truly unique and beautiful. Body of the bag measures 9.5” in height, 20” from apex of strap to bottom of the bag, base is 9” across, 3.5” width, 9.25” depth in the pouch.
