Description: A very rare and sought-after Chronograph watch featuring the dependable Valjoux 23 (Swiss) movement. Cased and sold by Bulova Watch Co. circa 1947. Movement stamped with the Bulova caliber “13AK.” Pillar plate stamped with Valjoux signature and “23.” Watch runs on time and all functions work. However, while the Valjoux 23 movement has superior dependability, it is nearly 80 years old. I cannot guarentee performance. Performance will be prolonged and enhanced if properly serviced. Note: The watch was wound 50 times using a smooth, light back and forth motion. Time was set against my iPhone clock. The watch ran 24 hours to within the minute. That is evidence of exceptional performance by a high-quality watch that is nearly 80 years old. The dial has an even patina (with just a couple spots) and numerals are highly legible. Acrylic crystal is nearly perfect. Hands are all original and there is still some illumination. The return pusher has some wear on a corner, but otherwise the case is in excellent condition — with the exception of some marks on the case back cover from someone attempting removal (and the reason I do not want to try to remove it for photographs). Thanks to Farfo dot com vintage watches for the following additional description information: Bulova Caliber 13AK, Swiss Made Valjoux 23 Movement Signed Bulova Watch Co, Swiss and Stamped with the Bulova Swiss Factory Code BXW on the Balance. Under the Balance is Stamped with the Valjoux Signature and "23" Solid Stainless Steel Case With Flat Pushers to Control the Chronograph. Top Pusher Starts and Stops the Chronograph. Bottom Pusher Resets Counters to Zero. Case Signed Inside, "Bulova Watch Co., Swiss." Beautifully Aged Dial with Luminous Numbers and Matching Luminous Fllled Hands. Thirty Minute Register at 3:00 and Constant Seconds at 9:00. Center Chronograph Hand and Perimeter 1/5 Second Graduation. Signed Bulova, Swiss. 32mm Diameter Excluding Crown x 38mm Top to Bottom. 18mm Lug Spacing Note: No current photos of the inside (movement) are available. I am unable to open the back due to fear of scratching or damaging the case back cover. At the time it was last serviced some years ago, the last photo uploaded was taken and sent to me showing the Valjoux signature and "23." The center Chronograph hand also returns short of straight-up 12 o'clock (less than one second short). This can apparently be easily remedied by removing the crystal and holding down the return button and manually returning to 12 o'clock and releasing the return button. This is best done by a mechanical watch expert. I do not have the tools or expertise to try to reset it.
