Description: For your consideration and enjoyment: Authentic hand carved Aboriginal parrying war shield from Western Australia dating to 1940/50's. This wonderful piece is hand carved out of one solid piece of Mulga wood and is in good overall vintage condition. There is some minor war wear and chipping to a few edges. The carved pattern is mottled crosses and what appears to be a design of coral?. Length is 32" x 4.5" wide x 2" high at the handle and weighs 3lbs 5oz. The bottom/front of the shield is also carved in the same pattern. The bottom/front has a label which states " Made by Aborigines in Western Australia- Department of Native Welfare".
