Description: Vintage 12" Folk Art Cottonwood Burl Wood Fruit Bowl Hand Carved Rustic GORGEOUS! I was told this is Cottonwood Burl, purchased at an estate sale in CT when we lived there. This is what I found on Google to confirm: "Cottonwood burl is a lightweight, soft, but strong wood that can be found in a variety of places on a tree, including the roots, curled branches, or large rounded growths. It has a distinct grain pattern and earthy tones, and is often used for turning, fine art, bowls, staining, and labels."Condition: Through age the shiny patina has worn off...you will see a couple spots of shiny on the outside, although I never noticed until I started taking pictures of it. The pictures I took make it look shinier than it actually is. It has a very soft earthy looking finish. It is lightweight (1.10 lbs) Sturdy wood and smooth to the touch with a lot of character. IMO it's nicer in person. It's a very unique piece of Folk Art. Please see pictures for a better visual description.
