Description: Villette by Charlotte Bronte, published by Carleton, 1864. Source for further description: Smith, Bronte pp 154-156 (full title of source: The Bronte Sisters A Bibliographical Catalogue by Walter E. Smith, Heritage Book Shop, 1991). Smith refers to the listing of the previous books by Charlotte Bronte and the reference to her in the title page of the book as Currer Bell in the 1864 publication (see pictures of early pages, as posted). I have seen pictures of the 1865 and1867 publications of this book. This is not a first edition of the book. Original green, cloth binding. The number of pages - 502 - is noted in Smith and also noted is the fact that a partial catalogue of books published by Carleton is inserted at the end of the book, three leaves, the only numbered pages are 4-8, which matches the layout in this book. Pictures of pages 4-8 from the back of this book are posted. Please see Condition description for several flaws, given age. The pictures are part of the description.
