Description: Villeroy & Boch SCHWANENDOSE DRAGEOIR CYGNE SWAN BOWL it is a replica Toilette Requisites of the one Villeroy & Boch made for Ludwig II King of Bavaria. This piece was first produced in 1984 and I believe this comes from very close to that time. Height 8.5" Diameter 6.5" This was the first piece in the set started in 1984 to celebrate the 100 anniversary of the original set. It is hand-crafted, the colors are in a enamel style, slightly raised above the surface. I see the gold on the lid is a bit separated, but it seems due to its creation or a result of aging with the rest of the colors crisp and intact. There's also a short straight line on the lid, behind the swan that is beneath the glaze & how it was created. There are no cracks, no chips, no crazing, and no repairs. There is no paperwork included, but it does include its shelf worn and stained box with its foam padding. One of these has not been sold on ebay in the last 3 years, & less than 5 found in worthpoint's 15+ years of their ebay records. Some have called this a soap dish; I really don't know, but I know it's a rare beauty that deserves to be treasured. I pack carefully and pad, as needed, to keep items safe on their journey.
