Vietnam War U.S. M1C Paratrooper Helmet & P64 Liner

Description: This is an original Vietnam War M1C Paratrooper Helmet and P64 Liner! USGI! Helmet is rear seam with swivel bales, manufactured by INGERSOLL, STAMPED 1990. Produced from 1964 onwards, the P64 Parachutist's liner was made from laminated high strength nylon fabric and featured the same improved suspension system as the infantry liner. As with the 1958 model, the new parachutist liner had two female snap fasteners, one on each side of the shell, which mated with the male snap fasteners on the helmet chin strap. Similarly, it was also equipped with an open web chinstrap that buckled to A-straps located on either side the liner. The new suspension system meant that four additional rivets were required to secure the two A-straps. As U.S. forces rarely performed combat jumps in Vietnam, Airborne soldiers often left the chinstrap to hang lose or removed it altogether. Helmet is in fine shape. Free from cracks, but has dents and wear from use (see pictures). STILL HAS ITS ORIGINAL SAND FINISH, PAINT AND OD AIRBORNE T-1CHIN STRAP! Liner is in solid shape and has its original suspension. Liner has soiling & rust from use and prolonged storage (see pictures). Liner has its headband but missing its nape strap and A Yokes. DATED 1968! Cover is in great shape! Developed during the Korean War, the reversible Mitchell pattern camouflage consisted of a green leaf 'summer' design with a brown cloud 'winter' pattern on the underside. It was first used in 1953 as the camouflage for the Marine Corps shelter half. The Mitchell pattern helmet cover was introduced in 1959 and was used by Marines and Army troops throughout the Vietnam War. The helmet cover featured buttonholes for attaching foliage.
