Description: A good antique country house letter / post box dating from the Victorian era. This is a gorgeous piece which would have sat in the hallway of a large country house or possibly hotel. The residents would have deposited their letters in the locked box ready for collection. The slots at the sides would I think have housed stationary materials for use. This a particularly lovely example , decoratively and heavily carved in oak and beautifully well made with dovetailed joints, glazed front window panel which is hinged and still has its working lock and key.
