Description: What a unique find! This charming antique autograph book was an 1885 birthday gift to "Naomi" in Canton, NY, from her sister, B.M Clark (?). There are 50 autographs inside, many enhanced with Victorian ephemera stickers and accents such as squirrels, flowers, babies and more (some comic). At least one autograph includes a little painting. Many entries are from the New York area; a few refer to the places or events at which they met Naomi, including "hop picking" outings. The embossed red leather covers are shabby but the pages are firmly held in place. The front of the 5" by 7.5" book is accented with an embossed green leaf containing the word ALBUM. In addition to some cracks and chips on the binding, the interior pages have age-darkening and some smudges, fading and other signs of age. The handwriting is amazing!
