Description: Up for consideration is a fine old Victorian Antique Stick and Ball Oak sewing slipper or piano bench with hinged lid. The piece measures about 20 inches in height by 20 inches in long with a depth of 14 inches at the feet. This exciting piece retains it's original leather top with old straw stuffing. Although the upholstery could use a little help to patch up it is quite rare to find such pieces with untouched upholstery. The bottom portion sports beehive type spools in the form of the stick and ball form lattice work...that can be found in good old Victorian Parlour Furniture in around the 1880's. I looked through the historical record and can't find a similar piece...which leads me to believe it is of fairly low production and given the spindle design may be that is way better than average. There were some pretty important pieces that were produced during that time period that command premium prices...George Hunzinger pieces are one such suggested attribution or in the style of.
