Description: Victor Victrola No.5/5A Orthophonic Reproducer Bearings and Dampers ONLY ~ Needle Arm Ball Bearings (20 provided) ~ Dampers (two types provided) ~ Rubber tubes (two sizes provided) for 'staking' needle arm pivot during service ALL PICTURES SHOWN FOR REFERENCE ONLY ! ! ! YOU ARE NOT BUYING A COMPLETE REPRODUCER ! ! ! You are buying one set of ball bearings and dampers that are suitable for the Victor Victrola No.5/5A Orthophonic reproducers. You are buying ONLY the the bearings and dampers. If you are unfamiliar with properly disassembling and rebuilding these reproducers I recommend against buying this kit. This particular service usually requires specialized tools, jigs and above all, a ton of experience to do correctly. Many Orthophonic reproducers are made of pot metal that has swollen, making the disassembly of the reproducer extremely difficult and many times impossible. Ask questions BEFORE you buy this if you are not sure what to do. This is not the sort of work that can be adequately addressed in emails and messages. I am including two different sets of dampers. Only one of them will be needed but both kinds are included because of certain dimensional differences between different reproducers that you will have to determine at the time you rebuild your reproducer. In some cases either type will work perfectly. Other times you may find that one type seats better than the other. The orange tubing (two different sizes) is used to "stake" one end of the the needle arm fulcrum in place while you install bearings in the other. Which one you use depends on the inside diameter of your bearing races and the outside diameter of the needle arm fulcrum. And, NO, they are not all the same. I have every known combination documented! This rubber is silicone and much easier to work with than that miserable gum rubber tubing available elsewhere. I am including approximately 20 ball bearings. Most Orthophonic reproducers use 16 (8 on each side). I have seen many that use 14 (7 on each side) and in rare instances, some that use 18 (9 on each side). In any case there are a few extras because unless you work with a jewelers bib like I do you WILL lose a few. WARNING: Some folks literally go insane and begin questioning life itself as they try to do this work, but I can save you from extreme behaviors because I have jigs and custom tools that make this work extremely easy for me and lower cost for you than others charge...and I mean easy! Once you receive the parts you may very well realize you are in over your head. And if you think that, and then want to have me do the work for you then I will rescue you. But if you start the work - you finish the work. These are difficult enough to work on under the best conditions and sometimes even the most well-intended folks will get into trouble - big trouble. I can help though. Orthophonic reproducer are FICKLE, FICKLE, FICKLE. I have serviced over 1,000 of them since 2003 when I started keeping track of them. The most important tool that you will need for this work is a tool box full of patience and a cabinet full of dexterity. I have thousands of parts for the Orthophonics including needle arms, original and reproduction replacement castings and retaining rings, dust covers and screws, limit screws and nuts, etc. Maybe I have what you need. Maybe not. Ask.
