Outstanding colors, with some that have extremely high quality shadow banding, pastels, lavender, burgundy, wine, mocha, and greys! Great value! Great color gradation on some that move from greys to wine or purplish. The agates in the photo are representative of the ones you will receive. These have been rough tumbled to get them minimally processed and available to be shipped out of Africa. They are smooth to the touch, and could be further tumbled. Many have some husk portions on the outside, but all have significant windows of areas displaying beautiful banding. Each one is unique! Approximately 10-14 agates make up a 1lb. Agates will be approximately .75"-1.5" +/- in size, with some possibly larger. This is for a 2lb lot. These are amazing agates and high quality Botswana are becoming increasingly more difficult to obtain since the embargo in the 1970's. Very solid details, and you will see shadow banding on several agates in each photo. Nice ones to make pendants, earrings and more! Several of my past buyers are making multiple cabs from the same agate! Some folks are wire wrapping these beautiful stones as is, or with a clear coat. Many uses and ways to use these unique agates. Some folks are reselling these agates for $8-15+ each at craft shows, or online. For those looking to further work some of these for cabs or tumbling, these are already smooth to the tough and appear waterwashed. One of the nice things about Bostwana Agates like this is if you are going to cut or further polish, you know what angle and process to take! I have had a couple of buyers ask about shadow banding in Botswana agates. Parallax is the proper term for shadowing in agates. Shadow agates are unique in that they clearly exhibit a shifting optical effect, (almost like flowing) of perceived movement across the agate banding. Depth (or shadowing) within the agate is caused by light penetrating and then bouncing between alternating clear and opaque layers of agate banding. When the agate is slightly moved, the shadowing effect can be seen with the naked eye as movement, and light moving across the surface of the agate! Many people believe that Botswana Agates have very unique and restorative properties that promote healing and well-being. These meta-physical realms apply to both physical and mental energy and vitality. There are many more resources on the web that provide more details.
