By purchasing this listing, you are purchasing the conversion (transfer) of a consumer grade videotape to a digital format. The cost is $10 per tape regardless of the length of recorded content on the tape. I will pay for the shipping of the tapes from you to me. Consumer grade videotape includes the following:VHS / VHS-CVideo8 / Hi8 miniDV / Digital8**I WILL NOT CONVERT / TRANSFER / CAPTURE MOLDY OR WATER DAMAGED TAPES** HOW IT WORKS:1. Enter the quantity of tapes you want converted in the quantity box and purchase.2. Pack your tapes. Measure and weigh your ready to go shipment. Message me this information and your email address via eBay messages.3. I will send you a shipping label and a packing slip. I will use either USPS Ground Advantage, Fedex Home Delivery, or UPS Ground. Fill out the packing slip and put it in your package with your tapes to be shipped. Tape the shipping label to your box and bring it to a local carrier in your area (USPS, Fedex, or UPS). Make sure you get a receipt when you drop the package off.4. Upon receiving the tapes, I will convert them and have a downloadable file ready for you within 7 days. After this I can ship the tapes back to you at your expense OR I can recycle them responsibly. WHAT YOU GET: You will receive three files per videotape transfered:1. Master copy (avi or mkv file). This will be a LARGE file. 2. Streaming copy (mp4 file). 3. Upscaled streaming copy (mp4 file). These will be available for you to download from a web link. If you don't want all three of these files that is fine. Let me know which ones you want/don't want and I will send over only those. Alternatively, you can provide a mass storage device (external hard drive, flash drive, etc) with your videotapes when you send them to me. I can put the files on this device and mail it back to you at your expense. Master copies can be up to 100 GB (gigabytes!) per tape. WHAT YOU DON'T GET: 1. You will not receive a perfect video file.2. You will not receive frame-by-frame color corrected video file.3. You will not receive a digitally enhanced, de-noised, de-grained, etc. video file. For the 10 dollar per tape price, I am essentially just transferring the tape with the best known quality hardware available. I am not digitally "repairing" your video. If your video needs additional quality work then you can take the master copy and have someone skilled in digital video correction fix whatever quality issues are present. I will not do this. The important thing to note is that the master copy is lossless and can be edited at a later date WITHOUT degradation in quality. MY CAPTURE PROCESS:Your VHS tapes will be converted using one of these players: Panasonic AG-1980P, JVC HR-S9800U, JVC HM-DH40000U, or JVC SR-VS30U.Your Video8 / Hi8 tapes will be converted using one of these players: Sony CCD-TRV615 or Sony EVO-9850. Your Digital8 tapes will be converted using one of these players: Sony DCR-TRV720 or Sony GV-D800. Your miniDV tapes will be converted using one of these players: Sony DCR-PC100, Sony DCR-PC110, Sony HVR-M15U, Sony HVR-1500, Panasonic AJ-HD1400. All VHS and Video8 / Hi8 will be captured using S-Video outputs. They will also be time base corrected using either a Datavideo TBC-1000, Kramer FC-400, DPS-235, or I.den IVT-7 timebase corrector (TBC). At all stages, S-Video outputs and inputs will be used. All VHS and Video8 / Hi8 will be captured using ATI AIW (All-in-Wonder) capture cards and captured to the lossless HuffYUV codec. The master copy will be an avi video file using the HuffYUV codec. All Digital8 / miniDV will be captured via the DV (Firewire) output from the player. These are digital born formats so there is no analog to digital conversion needed. The master copy will be an mkv video file using the DV codec. MY CONVERSION PROCESS:All captured files will be deinterlaced using the QTGMC deinterlace script.All captured files will be converted to the x264 codec (H.264 compression) for a streaming copy.The streaming copy will also be upscaled to 720p (1280x960 pixels in 4:3 aspect ratio) for an upscaled copy.
