Description: THIS AUCTION IS FOR THE 10 CENT TICKET SHOWN FOR THE OCEANIC TRADING COMPANY (OTC). I ALSO HAVE THE 25 CENT VERSION OF THE OTC TICKET LISTED AS WELL. BOTH HAVE SOLD FOR MORE THAN $100 ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. I have been researching, collecting, writing about AND selling Columbian tickets for more than 40 years. Fortunately, when it comes to history and research I'm definitely a hoarder (of information). So I can tell you precisely what any given ticket hgas sold for on the 3 or the 7 or the 20 times I have logged it as sold. Besides working full-time on all aspects of selling historical items, I am using every spare moment to work on my forthcoming third book about the Columbian Expo, the definitive work on tickets and passes. I'm very excited about it and happy to be sort of the ultimate nerd when it comes to Columbian tickets. I am still trying to have the book complely written by year's end but being realistic, I don't think that will happen. But the categorizing and organizing the wealth of information is by far the toughest aspect of writing and publishing such a book. I have learned so much as a historian, author of 12 books and developer/publisher of another 200, that I am very sure that this book will not have EVERY ticket from the fair as I planned. I have found so many tickets, passes, special examples of both, and related items (order form for a ticket for example) that I can't imagine I have found every one that exists. I am sure that the most serious and knowledgeable collectors will be surprised at how many tickets they did not know about. But just because I've worked exhaustively on this book for years I think that finding them all is probably impossible. I am listing a few of the tickets every week or two leading up to completion of the book. I have the sales records that demonstrate that a couple of tickets have NEVER sold beyond the one I am aware of....or the ticket with 2 or 3 known examples. I will include a chart of the most expensive tickets--but also complete data for common tickets. I have just purchased two new office computers and the one scary element of doing this? That some of my files could get lost in the process of moving everything from the old (probably more than 10 years!) to the new. There will be ample storage to keep all of these files and other archives right here within reach. I really did not want to have to have files kept offsite....in the clouds, up in a tree or somewhere on a mountain top! If you have any questions or knowledge about what you believe to be very rare tickets or passes, please let me know. The one thing my 40+ years as a historian has proven to me is that there is always more out there to discover. I am simultaneously working on my last sale of 2024--following on the heels of my recently completed sale of shipwreck and other "found" relics--that will be just world's fair items. The highlight (no surprise here!) of the sale will be some 40± scarce and rare WCE tickets.n And you can count on having the opportunity to purchase very scarce tickets (LIKE THIS ONE!) leading up to the actual sale. And if you are excited to see a 10-cent OTC ticket available right now for sale, just look a bit closer at my items for sale--for the 25-cent OTC ticket right now as well. And you can purchase either or both at a lower price than you would expect. Thanks for looking and for supporting my business for 26 years on ebay--and overall since 1979!
