Description: I inherited this tomahawk/war club from my mother. She acquired it in the 1970's. This is very, very old. I don't know what tribe this is associated with. I will do more research on it then share any findings here. The stone head had been hand chiseled into sharp edges, both ends. The crudeness says this could be 500 years old or older The length of the stone head is approximately 8 inches The handle is bone. It's probably a deer tibia split at the end so the stone head could be set between the bones. This is not wood. One marrow chamber is clearly visible. The stone had been bound with either sinew or leather to hold it in place while the bone dried. The sinew or leather has long since rotted away. However, the stone head is firmly in place as the bone has molded itself around the stone. There is no odor or any evidence at all of decomposition of the bone or marrow. One hollow bone marrow chamber can be clearly seen. The handle is remarkably light weight. I can weigh the end with the stone, if requested for an estimated weight. The overall length of the tomahawk/club is 19 inches. The bottom end of the handle is wrapped with leather. This tomahawk would be a great addition to a collection of rare native American hand crafted antiques. I would like to see it go to a place where it would be seen and appreciated rather than sit covered in a safe place, unappreciated by others. If you need any further measurements, please message me. Thank you
