Description: Lucite SculptureALESSIO TASCA, Italian (1929-) We offer an early, pre-factory production, kinetic prismatic sculpture crafted in lucite by Italian ceramics artist Alessio Tasca. The sculpture is a prismatic disk on a chrome rod affixed to a rectangular base by a round ball bearing metal fitting which allows the sculpture to rotate. Signed "TASCA" in hand script on side of the base. In the early 1970s, Alessio Tasca was asked, possibly by the lucite sculptor Luca Bonato, to collaborate with a local company, Fusina, to create lucite sculpture. It is important to note that the offered sculpture is an early piece and signed on the side of the base. Later production models have Fusina molded in large block letters on the base and are not signed by the artist. In very good condition, the prismatic lucite disk measures 5 7/8" in diameter. The chrome rod which attaches the sculpture to the base has corrosion to the chrome surface as seen in the photographs. The signed lucite base has surface scratches and crazing as seen in the photographs and measures 2 1/2" by 3 15/16" by 1". The overall height of the sculpture is 8 3/8".The metal fitting that rotates the rod is marked "R-1340ZZ " and "NMB".
