Description: Title of the view:"Veue du Chateau de Trianon du coté du Parterre du Parque de Versaille" Large antique optical view of the Trianon, in the castle of Versailles. Louis XIV built, between 1670 and 1672, a fancy castle, the porcelain Trianon, on the site of the church and houses of Trianon. Then two other palaces were built nearby: the Grand Trianon (or «Marble Trianon»), built in place of the Porcelain Trianon; and the Petit Trianon built by Louis XV, which Louis XVI then offered to Marie Antoinette. The view is engraved in reverse for use in a zograscope, an optical device that used mirrors and lenses to create perspective. These prints were only produced for a short period of time.
