Vernon Kilns EARLY CALIFORNIA Turquoise Carafe Jug w/ Bakelite handle

Description: Vernon Kilns EARLY CALIFORNIA Turquoise Carafe Jug w/ lid/stopper & Bakelite Handle For your consideration is this vintage Vernon Kilns Early California turquoise carafe/jug.The carafe is in good pre-owned condition but is not perfect. There are no chips or cracks except a small, tight 1/2" hairline coming down the neck from the opening. I did not find this until inspecting for this listing but it is there. On the opposite side there is a streak down the side of the jug which feels as if something caustic once ran down the side and slightly removed the outer glaze. It's hard to describe but when you run your finger over it you can notice a slight difference in feel; however, the surface is still smooth (not abraided). You can see the streak particularly in the right light. I tried to use the overhead lightbulb reflection to highlight it in seveal of the pictures. It may have happened in production but I can't say for sure. Other than this, it is free of any other spots or stains. There are a few relatively minor scratches to the glaze from use and handling. The lid is clean and free of damage.The Bakelite handle is in very nice condition with a nice patina as is the metal clamp around the neck. It is somewhat loosely attached but that may be intentional as it is secure and useable if desired. Despite the relatively minor (in my opinion) flaws, I think it displays nicely for such an old and desirable piece. I tried to be as accurate as possible in my description. Priced with the condition in mind. This carafe stands 7-1/2" tall at the spout and without the lid. With the lid, it stands approx. 8" tall. It has an overall length of 8-1/2". The base has a 2-3/4" diameter.Undersides marked "Early California Vernon Kilns Los Angeles Authentic California Pottery Made in USA."I have another listing of luncheon plates and platters but it may be hard to combine shipping with this listing.
