Description: ********From surviving the sinking of the Titanic ship in 1912 as a 7 year old boy, Mortimer Howell Cobb, to the Captain in the Merchant Marines comes this listing from his estate. The tragedy of the Titantic did not deter him from a career on the seas.****** Please NOTE: This message is a quote from an eBayer: “ Unfortunately Mortimer Cobb lied about bringing a survivor of the Titanic. This has happened many times with people who wanted attention in the news. The earliest mention of his claim was made by him in 1982. He’s not on the Titanic passenger list, the Carpathia rescue manifest.” It is the family history that I am quoting about being a survivor. Many of his genealogy items were given to a genealogy foundation in the area. Family has said that the Captain of the Carpathia took Mortimer under his wings. I had read somewhere among his many items that what he remembered was he was very cold and had no hat. I am not stating he is or is not as a fact a survivor of the Titanic , but that is what the family history states. And was stated to me that sometimes the children under the charge of another person, Nanny, were sometimes not listed. This is ACCORDING TO FAMILY HISTORY. Vanity Fair Spy-Cartoon Print-1800s, Name and date are Unknown. *****I purchased many of these Vanity Fair prints from the Cobb estate. Over the next few weeks I will be listing them. Keep checking back, you may find one that you do not have. I don’t know much about these and most don’t have the info on the front, but someone has written info on the back of some. These were this size when I purchased them from the estate.***** More documents and paper items from the Mortimer H. Cobb estate are listed. More of the Vanity Fair prints are listed. 12 1/4” x 7 1/4”. Measurements are approximate. Good used condition. Brown spots mostly on the back, paper has aged, has bends in the paper. Bad spots on the back, not the front. Not sure what the brown spot is to the right of his red hair. See photos. Photos were taken with and/without a flash. When buying more than one listing, please wait for a revised invoice to save on shipping when all go in one package.
