While the glass is still warm from the furnace, he draws a design over its surface using colored glass rods. Heat from the glass causes the rods to melt and adhere, forming a design. Once finished, he dips the glass vessel in a layer of clear glass. By adding more layers of clear glass and glass flowers he achieves a three-dimensional effect. To complete the work, he includes details and facets the glassware. This limited edition glass by Vandermark Merritt Glass Studios is signed and numbered. Vandermark Glas is represented in the Toledo Museum, Corning Museum, Wheaton Museum of American Glass, as well as many of the most prestigious private collections.” - Museum Company informational leaflet that accompanied a similar piece that sold.
