Description: Valerian I, sestertius, 253-260 A.D., Roman Imperial, Sear 10010, R.I.C. 155, 29-30 mm diameter, 17.2 gm. The obverse shows the laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Valerian, to the right. The obverse legend shows "IMP. C. P. LIC. VALERIANVS AVG ". The reverse shows the legend "CONCORDIA EXERCIT, S. C. ". Concordia is standing left, holding a patera in extended right hand, and cradling a double cornucopia in left arm. The piece is dark brown to near black tone on both sides. The piece shows the less than round shape of the stock material from which the planchets were cut for striking. This is a genuine original coin, not a copy, replica, or reproduction. EX.
